During the whole 2007 year there were:
- 47.6 million departures abroad (by 6.4% more than in 2006) and
- 66.2 million arrivals (by 1.7% more).
- The number of tourist arrivals is estimated for this period at some 15.0 mill (by 4% less).
The total number of tourist inbound trips shall rise from 15.7 million in 2007 to around 19 million in 2012 and 2013. We assume some changes in structure of inbound tourism: in terms of generating countries as well as in purposes of visits. Leisure and business trips are supposed to grow faster than transit, shopping-oriented and VFR trips. Significant growth can be seen in use of commercial accommodation.
– Details on monthly arrivals by country in 2007 and previous years.
– Monthly arrivals by type of borders.
Generally, there are three main motivations for travelling:
holidays, leisure, business,
visiting friends and relatives
Besides, Polish inbound tourism has some special characteristics: relatively large amount of shopping and transit tourism. The size of these segments is generated mainly by tourists from behind eastern border even though numbers of shoppers from Belarus, Ukraine and Russia is steadily diminishing. However, the transit traffic through Poland is still very important.
